Maybe "we're getting rain today" means New Orleans is getting rain today, but where we live (about 40 miles North,) has been & continues to be dry as dust, despite the massive storms that swept through the area a few days ago.
Good luck with you "fire weather," though. I hate it when it falls straight from the sky!
