Here is a plot of land owned by the Shannon family in Shelbyville, owners of one of the towns three funeral homes. It is within walking distance of my Auntie Dorothy's, just beyond another neighbor's expansive backyard. In the 70s, I had first been to the graves when the area was wooded and a complete mess. And I got scared shitless by a rabbit. Seems most everyone who is buried here served in either the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, or the Civil War. So it is indeed a very old cemetery. The last photo I have placed on its side, to make the image as out of the way as possible. From one end of the tombstones, you can look down an incline and see the drive-thru for a KFC and the truck docking area for Wal-Mart. Sucks, huh?
