The Irony Not Lost

I took this photo in a hurry as the driver looked pretty hard ass, I was in the Walgreen's parking lot near my bus stop about a month after 9/11. Burbank is just east of Bridgeview, which has the highest population of Muslims in the US, and home to the first mosque built in this country, at 103rd and Harlem. Times were tense that autumn of 2001. But being hard ass also means you can't WRITE the damn language you expect others to SPEAK. And the guy can't weasel out of it by saying there wasn't enough room to spray paint a coherent sentence. Happy end of the 4th of July...Wayne

Hum, maybe if I was on shrooms that phrase might be profound.

I often hear jerks complaining that so-and-so can't "speak American". These reactionary asswipes don't even know what language they're speaking. Or, in most cases, what language they're masticating with their drunken dialects.

I'd like to take those flags, poles and all, and shove them up that guy's tailpipe (and I ain't talkin' about his van).

You have a point & sometimes these kinds of things annoy me, too, but they I think about the difficulties I've had in trying to learn Welsh (even via book & tape,) & my heart softens, just a little. At least they're making an attempt.
Besides, sometimes you run into some Engrish gems like a sign Charles & I saw over a Chinese buffet in Austin, TX, proclaiming it "Super and Best!"
