Last Sunday's Bears Game Delay
I've tried several times, but I can't get the sequence of photos to come out right. The game started and it was in the 70s. The bad weather came just on schedule, tornadoes downstate killed six people. Just about zero visability and a delay that, counting a short bit of overtime, had the total playing time--start to finish--at 5 hrs and 11 min. Being Chicago, tonight it is 13 degrees.

THE NUDE GODDESS OF THE RED LINE
Nude "goddess of the train" stops CTA Red Line at Granville

A nude woman claiming to be the "goddess of the
train" halted southbound Red Line service for a short time early
Saturday afternoon until police could escort her off to jail at the
Granville station.
The "goddess" said she was going to the front car to drive the train and told everyone else to get off, according to Anne, who shared these photos.
No doubt the actions of this woman prompted this CTA alert sent at around 1 p.m. today:
"Some 95th-bound Red Line trains are operating with residual delays after an earlier disturbance aboard the train at Granville."
That's a disturbance one doesn't see too often.
As Anne put it in her email to me: "Just a normal day at Granville." Though she did add: "This tops anything I have seen in 20 years riding the CTA.

Been Awhile Since I Did Ghost Signs
It still amazes me that there are signs in full view. I've walked down the alley with the faded Harmony Cafeteria on it hundreds of times. Boston Store was the biggest store we had circa 1900, I had to climb into a department store window to get this photo. The last photo? Supposedly, it is Kimball Piano, but I'm not certain why people think that.

VANITY PLATES FOR CHERYL TOWNSEND'S FACEBOOK ALBUM
Cheryl Townsend and I go way back. She published my poetry in her magazine IMPETUS for several years in the mid 1980s. Always wanted to meet her, but the world just remains too damn big. I have kept my eye out for photos of vanity plates over the last few years. The last one is Croatian for Werewolf.

Foreign Editions
Gordon Van Gelder and Ellen Datlow are great editors, that goes without saying. But the two of them were also the only two that made certain received copies of any foreign editions my work appeared in. In between the German and French editions, you'll see both Danish and Croatian anthologies. The first three are Dutch volumes of Year's Best Horror and I picked them up from Kees Buis, from his own personal collection, in exchange for some signed books from me. Google Images has its good and bad sides. I can latch onto copies of foreign editions (when I can), but I can also see where certain editors neglected me badly.
